frequently asked questions

general

How often do you update? - twice a week, I try to aim for tuesday and friday but depends and things happen.

story/comic/origins

What exactly is On and Across about? - well, it's a romance/slice-of-life/drama about dreams, lost love, friendship, loyalty, forgiveness, jealousy, unrequited love, family, standing up for others, confusion, loneliness, warmth, bitterness, etc. etc. At the center of On and Across are Jiro Takahashi, Midori Minami, Kano Irie, and Haruko Aoki.

How did On and Across come to be? - a year or two passed by since a friend and I tried to produce our own printed comic but failed (miserably), I had turned away from drawing and concentrated on my writing. Then the same friend tells me about webcomics and announces to me that he will be doing his own webcomic, he also suggested that I do one as well. I was hesitant at first, because at that time I haven't drawn anime/manga style for nearly two years. After I decide that I'd go ahead and make a webcomic, I spent about 3-4 months on planning and preproduction.

Where does the title come from? - "wherever I go, you are with me - on the roads of life, across the tracks of fate - you are my beautiful day" ... "life goes on and across" these are lyrics from a song by Jiro.

So exactly how long will On and Across be? - long, very long.

Why are there so many characters? - there are four main characters, the rest are minors.

Why are there so many female characters? - that's a good question, it just turned out that way somehow.

drawing/art

How long have you been drawing? - a long time, but I remember starting to do tons of drawing around first grade up to now which is over ten years.

What are your art influences? - the two most influencial sources would have to Akira Toriyama 's Dragon Ball Z (for my early years) and Masakazu Katsura (for my later years/present).

What do you use to draw the comic? - pencil (2mm and 0.7mm HB, H, 3H, 6H), 14x11 bristol board, and photoshop.

Do you take or have taken art classes? - I took some art classes during middleschool and two years of studio art in highschool that's pretty much it I think.
